I am supplementing my initial, very positive review with another very positive comment. Chris commented during the course that he would be putting together a "few notes" on the material covered. I expected a "few notes" but what arrived today amounts to an entire eBOOK with over 30 pages of detailed instruction, with illustrations. I was seriously blown away. I've received much less detailed and thoughtful instruction at a higher price than what was provided in this course. Chris, thank you so much for the hard work you put into all of this. I'm still shaking my head in astonishment at how much I got out of this course. The high bar that you set with just the video instruction has been raised even higher.
This was my first Academy course, and in a word, it was superb! Unlike a lot of these live lectures which follow the format of "here are a bunch of routines, now I'll show you how I did them," this was completely different. Although it was intimate, it felt like a college course in mentalism. Chris is a superb mentalist and bringing along his pal Luke just made things even better. Chris clearly had developed a curriculum for the material, and it was structured so well that the first lecture on drawing duplications, for example, gave you everything: tools, theory, varying methods based on audience, variations on those methods, subtleties, nuances... You couldn't really ask for more. The Academy has set the bar high for magic education. This course was a sensational value.
I just finished watching the second day of lectures with Chris Rawlins and Luke Jermay and I decided it was so good I had to write a second review. Learning any kind of magic is such an insular experience until that moment you have to grab your mam, friend or wife and say "watch this". The Alakazam Academy paves the way for group learning, no longer is it a solitary experience. To be able to learn as a group, ask questions in the moment and get instant feedback is wonderful. You feel part of something much bigger. The lectures are now available in my account and once the lecture notes are ready I will have a huge resource at my fingertips. I cannot recommend this enough.
After watching the first day's material I was wondering how day two could raise to the high standards provided in the first half. Chris and Luke delivered. In addition to sharing of some very ingenious methods, the insight into staging, script and other nuances of performing these effects give the entire course an unmatched value. I will also add that I was able to watch them while vacationing in Hawaii, overlooking a lovely sandy beach and swaying palms. Having the ability to watch and learn, anywhere in the world, is so very nice. Well done, all.
This is a gem for mentalists, with the kind of practical advice you will get nowhere else...oh and the effects are stellar too! Worth so much more than the entry price.
A good rating just doesn't really do it. Chris has given us such an insight into drawing dupes and he has certainly helped me get past some of my fears with this excellent crowd pleasing effect. Having Luke with him has been amazing surprise. Every second has been a revelation in mentalism and the advice given is priceless and can be used for many different effects even if mentalism isn't quite your thing. .
We got off to a very strong start absolutely immediately and there was so much content spread over 3 hours plus that it must be the best value course anywhere in Magic. Luke Jermay being there as well was an amazing bonus and I learned lots - not just methods. It has encouraged me to sign up for other Academy courses. As Mr Nardi might to say, 'This gets my highest recommendation!' :-)
What a great evening. Last night was all about drawing duplication and I think we can safely say the topic was well and truly covered. But so much more. The effects taught were strong workable effects and can be adapted to suite your personality and experience and the wealth of good, practical advice from people who work this stuff was staggering. Loved the honesty of Chris and Luke as well. They were willing to share their successful and less successful experiences which was a great help and encouragement. Tonight we move on to other kinds of effects and, if last evening is anything to go by, it'll be a amazing.

Having paid to see Chris and then to have the bonus of Luke was a great surprise. I have spent a lot of money on imp pads, peek devices etc, I could've saved a fortune had I seen this lecture sooner! The quality of ideas, the insight and delivery were amazing. Top that off with discussions on theory, general practice and other nuggets of knowledge and you have a fantastic resource at your fingertips. I can watch this back and gain even further understand of anything I missed first time round. I can't wait to see what day two will bring. As a mind reader I would love to see more mentalism lectures of this high quality. Thanks to all involved. Feeling truly inspired.
Mentalism is branch of magic where presentation/context are key if the routines are to be immersive and entertaining. Chris and Luke provide motivational ideas to frame many different presentations.For me, this is the best Academy so far. Just awesome!!!! Congratulations to all involved !
Absolutely amazing... had my moneys worth in the first 10 minutes! Being able to ask questions or see something w/ a different camera angle is just like being there in person. This is truly the BEST way to LEARN in today's modern magic World!
