At a time when mentalism was just beginning to undergo a transformation from stodgy, tuxedo wearing stage performers to mind reading in smaller venues, including the street, Max Maven introduced an entire new way to present the art. Through a series of self-published (like in made at a copy shop) that sold for only a few dollars, Max provided a unique approach and vision that is even more appreciated now that when this material was first published. For those lucky enough to get those early copies, we were treated to effects that ranged from card effects to spirit magic. Max has decided to collect all of this incredible stuff into a new volume, re-worked and updated much of it and re-released it to an appreciative mentalist community. The stuff is solid, clever as the devil and most of it stupid easy to do. I was grateful to have another crack at these effects after losing all of my original, signed issues lost.
